British Swimming boss on why 11-time Paralympic champion missed out on London 2012 selection
What’s your most embarrassing moment in sport?
“Have you heard about the hat incident? My swimming hat fell off halfway through the final of the 200m Individual Medley at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. I had to do the last 100m of the race without a hat or a bobble so my hair went everywhere. But I still came third! What’s funnier is that physio went into the pool at the end to get the hat for me to keep. Needless to say I threw it straight in the bin!”
So it doesn’t take pride of place on your mantelpiece then?
“Certainly not!”
