Picking your team

Choose 4 players to start the match. Each player has an amount of class points (ranging from 0.5 to 3.5) based on the level of their disability. Your team’s total points cannot exceed 8 at any time. You may swap in players at the end of each quarter or if a time-out is called. You will have to decide whether to play a balanced team of average players, or have 1 or 2 more able players offset with some low rated players.

Formations

Picking a formation will guide the players that you are not currently controlling directly (you may only control 1 at a time). Depending on which formation you pick they will move to different places relative to the ball. Choose an offensive formation to make it easier to score, or choose a defensive formation to make it more difficult for your opponent to score, or choose something more balanced. You may wish to start with one formation and change later in the game depending on the circumstances. E.g. if you are winning, maybe it would be safest to switch to something defensive to stop them equalising.

Other Tactics
  • Energy Conservation – Decide whether the players you are not controlling will lunge in for a tackle at every opportunity or will play a more reserved game to stop them tiring out so quickly.
  • Marking – Decide whether your players should just mark their own man, or if more should target the ball carrier
  • Positioning – Decide whether your players should favour pressing forward, or holding back

In Game

Tip Off

The ball is thrown up in the air, when it descends, press G to reach for the ball. Try to time it so that you get to the ball before your opponent without reaching too early and missing.

Controls:

At any time:

W & S - Accelerate your player up and down
A & D - Accelerate your player left and right

When you have the ball:

G - Throw the ball high in the direction you are facing
H - Pass the ball to the nearest player
J - Call timeout (to change tactics, swap players etc)

When the opponent has the ball or the ball is loose:

Steer your player into the ball carrier to try and tackle them
G - Lunge in the direction you are travelling (increases tackle power)
H - Select another player that is closest to the ball or ball carrier
Keys may be changed within the Options menu.

Game Objective and Rules

The aim of the game is to score more goals than your opponent before the time runs out. You score a goal by getting a player with the ball to pass between the 2 cones at the end of your opponents' half. You may stop your opponent scoring, by smashing into them, or intercepting one of their passes.

A match is split up into 4 quarters. Each team may make tactical changes after each quarter or when a time-out is called. If no team has won after the 4 quarters have finished, then additional quarters are added until one team has won.

Fouls
  • Out of Bounds – If the ball or ball carrier goes off the edge of the court, then the ball is turned over the other team for an in-bound (where they can throw it in to a member of their own team)
  • Back Court Violation – After the team with possession enters their opponents’ half, they may not return to their own. If they do, this is a back court violation and the ball is given to the other team for an in-bound.
  • Ten Seconds No Dribble – This foul is called if a player does pass the ball within 10 seconds. If called the ball is given to the other team for an in-bound.
  • Twelve Second Violation – If the team in possession does not enter their opponents' half within 12 seconds then the ball is given to the other team for an in-bound.
Tips
  • Try to adjust your team tactics to counter your opponent. If you opponent is faster than you, then don't play too offensively
  • Pass the ball before you are tackled. Draw the player, then pass to a team mate who is in space
  • Pass to players to have momentum. If a team mate is moving quickly, then give him the ball and you may be able to surprise your opponent.
  • Use low class point players in defence, fast players for attack. Defensive players don't have so far to travel and will often serve you well just by being in the way.
  • Bash opponents off the edge and back into their half. Tackling will not always be successful, but if you can knock the ball carrier over a line then he will be penalised for being out of bounds or committing a back court violation
  • Keep most passes short. Long passes have more risk of being intercepted or missing the target altogether, so keep most of them short and reliable. Of course the occasional long pass might be worth the gamble!
